In Preimplantation genetic testing all the chromosomes are checked to see if they are normal. PGT helps to select the embryos carrying healthy chromosomes number after embryos are formed after ICSI .
It is done by removing one or two cells from the day 3 / day 5 embryos.
It is indicated in
1. Couple with history of congenital disorder.
2. Couple where woman is 35 yrs or older .
3. Couple with history of recurrent pregnancy loss
4. Couple with multiple IVF failure .
It helps in detecting abnormal embryos prior to implantation. Although it provides greater degree of certainty but it is never 100% accurate.
