Testicular / Epididymal Sperm Aspiration / Extraction
These are the sperm retrieval techniques. It is applicable where sperms are not present in the ejaculate, a condition called azoospermia. There can be obstruction to the flow of semen due to infection, trauma, vasectomy and other surgeries, etc. It is a minor procedure under anaesthesia. The sperms aspirated/ biopsy is taken in laboratory observed and sperms if found are used for ICSI.
Indications
1. Obstructive and Non obstructive azoospermia, eg. CBAVD, infection, Vasectomy, very low sperm count.
